The aim of PendleLife is to aggregate into one place information and services from many sources, and present it in an accessible, user-friendly way. There is no requirement for users to understand the underlying structures and locations of the various service providers, but to simply access these services quickly and easily.
We aim to provide a single point of access to the full range of online services comprising council, leisure, education, health, social services etc. In addition to services the site will bring together local information concerning such things as transport, jobs, local events etc. In this way, all the information people need about the local area, from all the relevant service providers, is provided in one place.
In addition, we are seeking to provide a section to assist potential visitors to the area to get the most out of their trip.
Registered users will be able to access free email services, create their own websites and stationery, and post to the community messageboards. The project aims to help voluntary and community groups to create websites for communication and networking, and to provide local businesses with the means to set up e-commerce websites.
PendleLife is being funded through central government funds, Pendle Council’s Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and by Pendle Partnership through its European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Pendle Economic Regeneration Programme (PERP).
