Ferndean Way - Saturday 25th April

Colne Walk

Saturday 25th April 2009

10.30am Upper Ball Grove Car Park

The Ferndean Way Caches

The Forest of Bowland A O N B have asked me to lead a geocaching walk on Sunday 26th April so I have added in this walk on the day before so that anyone who wishes can make a weekend of it. This being between Easter and May Day there should be no problem finding accommodation of any kind.

Car Park:  This is just off the main A6068 from the Keighley area of Yorkshire – or on the way to Keighley from Colne or the M65 – it is down Ball Grove Drive which is just after Christ Church coming from Keighley. Grid Reference SD908403. It is immediately above the cache GC1AVZZ

The Walk: A circular walk of about 8 miles with very little uphill involved. There will be an early stop in Wycoller and the possibility of collecting another cache in the vicinity. I’ll leave you to consider for yourself whether you think you can run to any of these whilst the rest of us refresh ourselves or explore Wycoller (a lovely hamlet).

The Route: Will go past caches as follows so load them into your gps - click on each to go to the website for the cache

Accomodation: If you need accommodation I can arrange to have you sent the Tourist Brochure. There are plenty of excellent B&Bs and Colne has dozens of first class places to eat – English / Italian / Chinese / Indian to name but a few. Send me an email with your address.

Booking: There is no need to book but if you think you’ll be coming please let me know so that I can look out for you. Bowland AONB may require you to book for Sundays walk (they normally charge) – don’t, just let me know you’ll be there and you will be appointed official co-leaders/backmarkers etc!
