THE PENDLE WALKING FESTIVAL in 2010 will be for 9 days from Saturday 4th September to Sunday 12th September

Two Walks from Coldwell

Coldwell Inn was an 18th century inn on a pack horse route until, after being badly damaged in a fire, it was converted to an Activity Centre in 1985. A centre for gambling a hundred or so years ago it was often raided by police. It now boasts a nice tea room (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) where you can refresh yourself (from 10 until 4.30) before and after the walk.  It is on the Colne, Trawden and Nelson roads leading to Hebden Bridge - technically its on Back Lane, Burnley although it is (just) in Pendle alongside the two Coldwell Reservoirs. You can find out a lot more about it on http://www.coldwell.org.uk/

Walk 1 takes you west to Catlow Bottoms and Walverden Reservoir and is about 5 miles with a shorter variation.

Walk 2 visits the east - New House Farm, Boulsworth and the Deerstones Gambling site and is some 7 miles with a shorter variation.

The overgrown one This path before it (looking back) can be equally good - but is often in the state pictured here
