Pendle Borderline Theatre Company are here to put on great plays and we believe our record shows we do that with our many award winning productions.
This means that three times a year the cast and director are very busy with the play in hand and there are vital jobs for others to do, like costume, set and props.
However, for much of the year there aren’t as many opportunities for people to be involved as we would like, and this is especially true for plays with small casts. So we came up with BORDERLINE ON THE SIDE.
What is it? You may well ask.......
Once a month we’re inviting you to come along for an evening of theatre-related activities, such as:
Play readings
Reading sketches and extracts from plays, perhaps with an eye to putting on a production or just for the fun of it.
Organising trips to see plays
Seeing professional productions is both a good way to follow what’s happening in drama today and to have a good night out.
Visiting speakers and professionals
These could be costumiers, puppeteers or mime artists, demonstrating their work and maybe getting us to join in.
Workshops
To develop the skills of writing (Borderline wants new plays), directing or acting (a way of having a go without committing yourself to a full-scale production).
Anyone coming along would do just as much as they wanted – no one would be made to sight-read or act or anything else if they didn’t want to, and if you just want to watch and listen, that’s fine. We’ll be open to suggestions from the group, so if someone wanted a session on sound and lighting say, we would do our best to set it up.
To begin with we’re going to meet on the last Tuesday of every month (click the 'On The Side What's On' button on the left or click
here to see what we have planned for the near future) and our meeting place is the backroom of The Crown in Colne (the door nearest to the Leisure Centre).
So, whatever your interest in drama, come along and try a little Borderline On The Side!
