This course is designed specifically for those looking after children on a day-to-day basis and covers those incidents and accidents that may arise.

Each course lasts 12 hours and can be run Saturday and Sunday.  We can even run courses over four separate three- hour sessions rather than over two days, it’s your choice.

Course Content

The course covers the following topics:

• Unconscious casualty checks
• Recovery position
• Resuscitation techniques for child and baby casualties
• Epilepsy
• Asthma
• Sickle Cell
• Diabetes
• Shock (including anaphylactic and electrical)
• Choking technique for child and baby casualties
• Contents of a first aid box
• Recording accidents / incidents
• Burns and scalds
• Poisoning
• Wounds and bleeding bandages
• Crush injuries
• Foreign objects in the eyes, nose and ear
• Facial injuries
• Heat exhaustion and heat stroke
• Hypothermia
• Head injuries
• Jaw trust
• Fracture bandages

Courses take place in either one of Pendle Leisure Trust’s venues or if you prefer on your own premises subject to numbers
