Rules for use of the PendleLife portal
These rules set out the necessary legal framework that surrounds the use by the public of the PendleLife portal.
The PendleLife portal comprises this world wide web site and the content and services it provides.
The PendleLife portal is owned by Pendle Borough Council.
By using the PendleLife portal, either by logging on this website or by registering as a user you are agreeing to the terms of this framework. It is governed by English law.
Use of the system
As a user, you will be able to access material on most areas of the system without going through the registration process. Certain areas of the system are only open to you if you register, and some activities may be restricted to unregistered users.
There is no specific time limit applying to your access and use of the system. Users are reminded to check how much their access to the system is costing them in telephone charges. The system administrator reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access and use of the PendleLife portal at any time. It may exercise this right with or without notice. In normal circumstances, a user's access to the system will only be terminated in the case of abuse of the system.
You are responsible for all use of the PendleLife portal made by you or anyone else using your user name and password and for preventing unauthorised use of your user name and password. If you believe there has been any breach of security such as the disclosure, theft or unauthorised use of your user name and password, you must notify the systems administrator immediately by telephoning 01282 661968.
Registration
If you choose to register as a user then you will be able to access a wider range of content and services on the PendleLife portal.
The registration procedure can be accomplished online.
Your user name and password will allow you to access the areas of the PendleLife portal reserved for registered users only.
Content
All material on the PendleLife portal (the "Content") belongs to the Body that produced it or their licensors.
You may retrieve and display content from the PendleLife portal on a computer screen, print individual pages on paper (but not photocopy them) and store such pages in electronic form on a personal computer (but not on any server or other storage device connected to a network) for your personal, non-commercial use.
Except as expressly set out above, you may not reproduce, modify or in any way commercially exploit any of the Content.
PendleLife portal is not responsible for the contents or reliability of the linked websites and does not necessarily endorse the views expressed within them. Listing or inclusion of any linked website shall not be taken as an endorsement of any kind. The PendleLife portal cannot guarantee that these links will work all of the time and has no control over the availability of linked pages.

Privacy
PendleLife portal takes the privacy of its users seriously and we are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our users. Our Privacy Policy Statement explains the data processing practices of PendleLife portal. If you have any concerns about your privacy please contact the system administrator.
Users should be aware that the information held within the system is transmitted across the internet which is an international network.
Usage Charges
There is no charge for users to read the PendleLife portal however, in common with all internet sites, users will incur telephone charges. Users should be aware that other sites on the internet may charge people for accessing them.
Use of Community Forums
The PendleLife portal includes email, messageboards and other public areas (the "Forums") that allow feedback to PendleLife portal and interaction between users. PendleLife portal may choose whether to control the information/materials posted to Forums by users (the "Messages"), and may delete, move or edit the Messages and/or terminate a user's access to and use of the Forums.
Each user is solely responsible for the content of his or her Messages and they must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy.
Users may not impersonate any person or claim to represent a body unless they are authorised to do so.
If you wish any Message to be removed from a Forum please contact the system administrator.
Use of e-mail
You must not use the e-mail service provided by the system to send, or use or re-use any material which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, libellous or indecent or which infringes copyright or other rights of third parties or which contains any other form of illegal content. You must not use the service to send any chain e-mails or SMS messages or any unsolicited messages.
Use of Web In A Box
Each Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual is encouraged to make the Pendlelife.co.uk system lively, relevant and useful for its users.
The content of the PendleLife site is broken down into pages. Each of these pages will be identified as being the responsibility of an Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual. Each Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual is responsible for ensuring that the pages of content of which it is responsible are correct, up-to-date and in conformity with the internal regulations of that Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual.
Each Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual must ensure that the pages of content for which it isresponsible and its use of the PendLlife System complies with the law. In particular, the Agency/Community Group must ensure that it complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual must establish procedures to ensure that no abusive, defamatory or otherwise illegal material appears on the site.
Each Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual has a user name and password that allows the updating of the Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual's content. The Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual is responsible for ensuring that no unauthorised person adds or changes content on the site
Where an Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual has established and is moderating a Discussion Forum, that Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual accepts that any material that it permits to appear on that Discussion Forum must comply with the same standards as the other units of content that are its responsibility.
Should an Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual wish a user to be prevented from registered use of the site then they should contact the PendleLife administrator.
Each Agency/Business/Community Group/Individual must comply with the PendleLife Privacy Policy Statement, and its Acceptable Use Policy.
Warranties and Limits on Liability
PendleLife is constantly under development and review, in terms of both services and content.
Because of this and the number of sources from which the PendleLife portal obtains content and the nature of electronic distribution via the Internet, Pendle Borough Council does not give any warrantie sin respect of the system, content, software and services available through the system (collectively "Services"). In particular, the services are provided on an "as is", "with all faults", and "as available" basis. To the extent allowed by applicable law, Pendle Borough Council hereby disclaims all warranties, conditions or duties of every nature whatsoever (except any duties of good faith), including without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability or of fitness for a particular purpose, any express or statutory warranties, and any warranties or duties regarding accuracy, timeliness, completeness, perfromance, lack of negligence or of workmanlike effort. Additionally, Pendle Borough Council makes no warranty that the services are free from infection by viruses or anything else that has contaminating or destructive properties.
To the full extent allowed by applicable law, you agree that Pendle Borough Council will not be liable to you and/or any third party for any consequential or incidental damages (including but not limited to lost profits, loss of privacy or for failure to meet any duty (including but not limited to any duty of good faith, lack of negligence, or of workmanlike effort) or for any other indirect, special, or punitive damages whatsoever that arise out of or ar related to the information or services or to any breach of the terms by Pendle Borough Council, even if Pendle Borough Council has been advised of the possibility of such damages and even in the event of fault, tort (including negligence) or strict liability.

PendleLife portal is not responsible for the availability or content of third party sites and will not be a party to, or in any way responsible for, any transaction concerning goods or services available from such third party sites.
Changes to the Legal Framework
Pendle Borough Council reserves the right, at its discretion, to make changes to any part of the PendleLife portal and the legal framework that regulates its use. If you use the PendleLife portal after Pendle Borough Council has published changes, you are agreeing now to be bound by those changes. If you do not agree to be bound by those changes, you should not use the PendleLife portal any further.
