The UK Passport Service now provides some of its services on the Internet. eliminating the need to go to a post office to collect the required forms and envelopes.

You can make a pre-application for a passport using an online form, which is mailed to you to be signed and dated.  You can also renew your passport using an online form, and download a form to report a lost or stolen passport.
