Single Regneration BudgetSRB6 - Targeting Regeneration This is the combination of the Partnership's original SRB5 and SRB6 programmes which has opertated since April 2002. It incorporates the original aims and objectives of both SRB5 and SRB6 together with their funding streams. The SRB6 revenue programme is now almost fully committed but funding for capital projects is still available. Any new bids must fit within the criteria set out in the SRB6 mid term evaluation which was carried out during 2003. SRB5 - Opening Doors, Unlocking Opportunities In 1999 Pendle Partnership was successful in securing over £5m of SRB funding for a community regeneration programme focused on the five most disadvantaged wards in Pendle - Waterside and Vivary Bridge in Colne, Bradley and Whitefield in Nelson and the town of Brierfield. The programme aims to lever in a further £11m of public, private and European cash during its lifetime to make the programme worth £16m overall. SRB6 - The Time is now for Nelson (renamed 'Targeting Regeneration') SRB6 is a comprehensive £12m regeneration programme targeted at central Nelson (Bradley and Whitefield wards) and Brierfield. Community consultation is an important part of the SRB programme. SRB4 - Kick Start for Jobs This programme will come to an end in 2005. In 1998, Pendle Partnership secured £2.68m of SRB funding for a borough wide regeneration programme aimed at helping young people to overcome barriers to jobs and training. The programme has aimed to tackle the problems of low attainment and high unemployment amongst 16-24 year olds in the Borough of Pendle, particularly those from the most disadvantaged areas and ethnic minority groups. Together with other public and private sector funding this SRB programme is expected to be worth £14.1m over its lifetime. Projects in SRB4 help young people by providing assistance into employment, work experience and training opportunities. SRB2 - The Way Ahead This programme has now ended. The Way Ahead programme was awarded £9.28m in 1996. It aimed to tackle Pendle’s central economic problem - the loss of skilled employment through the contraction of manufacturing. Borough wide projects assisted local business to grow and diversify; embrace new technology and products, run export and marketing initiatives and train local people in new and advanced skills. The programme was very successful and outperformed its initial expectations by levering in over 40% more private funding. Total investment at the end of March 2002, including public, private and European funding, had exceeded the £48.2m target by £15.3m. An independent evaluation of the programme is available. |
