Question...I have a small child, and am interested in accessing the safety equipment scheme, what do i have to do in order to qualify?
Answer...If you have a child over 6 months, under 2 years and live within the SureStart Bradley, Whitefield or Southfield wards then the scheme is available to you. Your details will be taken and passed on to the Community Team who will then allocate a time to visit you (if you are not already
a member). Your Details will then be passed on the ACAP, and an ACAP representative will come and assess your home. Safety equipment will then be fitted where it is considered necessary.
Question...I am interested in taking my children swimming, how can i receive a pass?
Answer...Passes are available to all SureStart members who have children under the age of 5. The pass allows each family member to Wavelengths at a reduced rate of £1.30. Children under the age of 5 are free.
Question...I would like my child to take the free swimming lessons at Wavelengths. Could you point me in the right direction?
Answer...The child must be over the age of 3, (ideally 3 and a half). The sessions run over 6 month period, and places are generated from a waiting list. The sessions are held on Monday's, Wednesday's and Saturday's. If theree consecutive sessions are missed, then the child's place
is forwarded to another waiting list.
Quesion... I am new to the area, and am interested in taking my child to some play sessions. Can you help?
Answer... If you live in the Bradley and Whitefield area of Nelson, then you can become a member and access all the play sessions available, along with Literacy Groups, Swimming Sessions and other services. The Open Play sessions at the civic Theatre, Hodge House Community Centre, Bradley School and
Walton Lane Community centre are available to all, whether or not you live within the Bradley
and Whitefield wards.
