The children’s centre family support team believe that the main responsibility for the development and well being of children lies within the family.
We also recognise that parenthood and family life brings much joy to many, but it also presents challenges and difficulties at different stages and as circumstances change.
Not everyone has someone that they can ask for support when they need extra help. The ups and downs of being a parent can sometimes make our life difficult and worrying.
The family support team will provide a helping hand at times like these for children, parents, grandparents, carers and parents to be. We provide a range of activities and services to help family problems.
The family support team will undertake home visits to provide parenting information and support in response to parent concerns about their children or specific family issues.
Here are some of the areas that we can help with:
- Stimulating play ideas
- Safety in the home
- Children challenging behaviours
- Routines
- Mealtimes
- Newborn baby advice and support
- Sleep problems
- Speech and Language budgeting
- Transition to nursery, and information on groups and activities in the area
