The Web family

The focus this month is on our Barrowford parents Sara and David Webb, who regularly attend our sessions at the Beacon Centre and at Barrowford School. What makes them really special is that they manage to walk to the group most of the time, even when it's pouring with rain.

Sara first attended the Beacon Babies group with Sophie when she was 8 weeks old, and was then invited to join the Weaning and Cook and Eat groups with Leanne our Senior Support Worker. After she returned to work David continued bringing his daughter to the Baby Massage group, where he met lots of other parents. He has also become a regular at the Barrowford Coffee Morning and Play Drop-in session, and Sara still manages to attend during the school holidays.

Mothers and Kids Together (MAKT)

Mothers and kids together is a group just for you and your children to enjoy. A great way to spend time with your children and keep fit at the same time.

Sessions are open to all ladies with or without children.

Children must be in Year 5 or older.

Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult over 18.

Session Timetable. Aerobics/ keep fit sessions.

Mondays 7-8pm.

Adults £1 Children (under16) 50p

Marsden Community Sports and Arts Centre, Marsden Community Primary School,

This group is run in partnership with The Family Tree Centre and Marsden Primary School

Parents with Prospects

On the 14th January Blackburn College started a childhood studies course at the Beacon.

The course was aimed at teenage mums and included prctical activities such as baby massage, group discussions, games and quizzes.

At the end of the 8 week course students gained a nationally recognised qualification in areas such as child safety, practical parenting skills, bonding and play.
