Give your child a good start with language
Listening and chatting to children begins when they are born. Being able to understand and
use language well is really important for children to learn, socialise and develop confidence.
The Chatterbox group is run by Children’s Centre Support Workers who have been trained by Speech and
Language Therapists. The group shares lots of ideas on play and social games and provides opportunity for
parents to learn how they can support their child’s language in a fun and exciting way.
Aims of the Chatterbox Group are:-
- To provide an environment where parents and children can play and learn together
- To increase parents’ awareness of language development
- To give parents information on positive adult-child interaction
- To show parents how they can facilitate language development in play and everyday routines.
