THE PENDLE WALKING FESTIVAL in 2008 will be for 9 days from Saturday 30th August to Sunday 7th September

Beating The Bounds - KELBROOK & Sough

A nice walk varying from flat farmland to upland moor within a few miles it boasts what is possibly the oldest historic spot in Pendle. The start is St Mary’s Church which is unusual in that its tower has a clock on all four faces and when Kelbrook left Yorkshire to become a part of its rival county it remained in the diocese ofBradford.

Be warned that many paths are muddy, some little used, and often overgrown so that route finding, and the terrain, can be difficult.

Start:                St Mary's Church in Kelbrook Centre (903447) - plenty of street parking except on Sundays and religous holidays. The Craven Heiffer on the main road is also normally happy to allow use of their car park if you are having refreshments after your walk.
Length:             11k - although it seems a lot longer!
Height Gain:      300m
Time:                4 hours

Grade:              Medium

And these are the other two taken at the end of the walk - you can also tell it took us just over 4 hours!

The path to Great Hague (the building on the right) goes directly from here through the wheatfield. You can just make out the two tunnels

Harden Old House - the full route leads to it from the right. The shortest route can just be seen in the centre and the one via the Pendle Way comes in from the left
