In 2008 the Festival will be bigger and better than ever. It will run from Saturday 30th August to Sunday 7th September and the programme is available at libraries, tourist information centres, country parks and so on.
There's about 70 walks ranging from a stroll round a Nature Reserve to a 17 mile hike in the lower reaches of the Pennines. Everything is free - including the transport on a couple of the linear walks where pre-booking will be needed - the West Craven Way and our two new linear walks from Haworth to Colne. A couple of other events will also need pre-booking.
In September there'll be another South Pennines Festival and I'll be leading a walk.
Last year one of our most popular leaders - Norman Mitchell - was taken ill at the last minute - I'm pleased to say that he'll be back with us leading some walks this year. However injury has befallen another prolific leader so that, sadly, David Longmire won't be leading any walks although we hope his knee will recover sufficiently to allow him to participate in some.
