The opening ceremony

Over 80 walkers attended the opening ceremony and most went on one of the four walks from Barley. Here's a couple of pics from the Mayor's opening of the Festival (amazing how many walkers are camera shy!). CLICK ON THE PICTURES TO ENLARGE and then use the back button to return.

Wycoller Above Wycoller is the clam bridge with the leader, Keith Pickup, testing to see if it will bear his weight (actually floods have in the past washed it away and broken it in 3)
Pennineway And this I'm sure is somewhere on Emmot Moor after leaving the Pennine Way - this area is a real example of what Open Access walking is all about

The Monday was nice and bright though the higher up you were it got more and more windy

BBD So the breeze was pretty strong at the start of the Boulsworth by the Back Door walk
PendleWater But gentle down on Pendle Water
pub Starting from Lord Rodney along Colne Water (on the Friday night the river was over this section of the path - but it was too dark to take photos)

Tuesday also started well although a heavy shower mid-day dampened things quite a bit

PendleDirect How comes the leader and photographer was at the back when we ascended the steep bit on the Pendle Direct walk?
topopendle He did manage to make it to the lunch break in the middle of a cloud burst - by common consent the walk was kept nearer to 6 miles than 10
Anchor The evening was nice and bright so there was a large party leaving the Anchor for a drink at the White Lion

Wednesday was showery from the start and then rapidly went downhill although it was fine for the evening walk

Earby As you can see it was drizzling when some 30 walkers set off for Earby and Kelbrook's Moors and Streams
Noyna And very wet when even more went out for a View of Noyna
