The weather on Friday was appalling from the start - but that didn't deter people!
10 walkers set off on the Boulsworth and Beyond hard walk - the leader John on the left |
And made it off Boulsworth to the remains of the ancient farmhouse (photo Martyn Pashley) |
But only 6 on the Friends and Neighbours walk - they also decided that a walk along the county boundary would be unproductive in the mist - David, the leader, third from the left |
So instead it was along Widdop Reservoir (and my camera said it was too dark for photos) |
Getting closer to the clag |
Starting out on the Foulridge and County Brook walk - David, the leader, second from the left |
By the evening the days torrential rain meant that Colne Water had risen several feet to cover the footpath - and where it away as here |
This is one of my favourite paths - from Carry Bridge to Trawden - I'm glad it wasn't on our route. Thanks to Julie Rogan for this and last - taken on her mobile as my camera couldn't cope in the dark! |
The forecast for Saturday was even worse which detered many walkers but in fact it was very nice
Geoff Crambie (you can guess which he is) History of Colne Water was very popular especially as the river subsided 2 feet |
So that they could actually make there way along it |
The Mayor, Cllr Shelagh Derwent, posing with the leader of The Old Line, Richard Gilbert, for the benefit of the local press |
Lunch break on their way (thanks to Alan Howland for this and the next pic) |
Posing on one of Pendle's nicest old bridges |
On top of Pendle after going up the hard way |
How on earth did lilies get onto this little lake near the top of Pendle - a bit of artwork from John Kirk |

Sunday started off quite well but deteriorated about lunchtime - it was also so overcast that my pictures are not very high quality
Starting out for the big walk up Pendle - sorry its a rear view, those coming towards me were too blurred to use |
On top of Weets on the Barlick and Back walk (this and next from Alan Howland) |
And a well earned lunch break |
Two shots of lunch? - must have spent too long eating because this is a different spot! (this and next from John Fearon) |
This 'ancient' bridge was built last year over the ford through which cars must pass to get to their boats on Foulridge Lower reservoir - doesn't look as though it was too sensible a route this summer! |
I did get this one good shot at the start of Ice (none) and Water (plenty) |
Leader Keith Pickup in the centre at the start of the Pinhaw walk (this and next 2 from Dennis Linskey and Rossendale R A) |
On top of Pinhaw. The Beacon was a Watch 'Tower' and in 1805 one of the guards - Robert Wilson - died returning with food during a wicked winter, his grave is nearby. These guys survived. |
Descending off Pinner |
Even on Foulridge church lawn it was pretty dark but it was nice to see so many beating the bounds |
Geoff Crambie got a good turnout too for exploring Colne's Nooks and Crannies |
Just before the most dangerous bit - crossing the main road |
