FREE Sport in Pendle this August and September!
In the run up to this year's eagerly awaited Sports Awards, Sport Pendle and Pendle Leisure Trust are delighted to announce a range of free sports taster sessions will be available throughout Pendle in the first ever "Festival of Sport" which will take place from 27th August to the 2nd September this year.
Pendle's "Festival of Sport" sees a collaboration of sporting clubs, venues and organisers working together with Sport Pendle and Pendle Leisure Trust to offer young people and their parents the opportunity to try a new sporting activity from kayaking and canoeing to fishing and football.
Suzanne Hodgson, Pendle Leisure Trust's Sports Development Manager commented; "I think it is truly fantastic that all of the clubs are working together to offer over 80 free sports sessions for the week of 27th August to 2nd September. It means that families have an opportunity to sample free of charge the superb range of sports clubs and classes that are on offer throughout the year in Pendle. The "staple" sports such as football, rugby and tennis will be available. As will Taekwondo, Pendle Leisure Trust's "active sessions" (computer-led children's sports sessions), golf, bowls and junior gym sessions. It gives parents the opportunity to let their children try a whole new range of sports without worrying about the cost."
A plethora of sporting sessions are on offer for beginners and experienced budding sports boys and girls to try out thanks to the clubs and organisations, all of whom are volunteering their time free of charge to enable the people of Pendle to play for free!
Mrs Hodgson continued; "We’ve already had a lot of interest from parents who have children participating in Pendle Leisure Trust's Summer sports programme and we’re sure the Festival of Sport is going to be very popular. The sessions are open to everyone in Pendle to try but as places are limited all sessions must be pre booked to guarantee a place.
