THE PENDLE WALKING FESTIVAL in 2008 will be for 9 days from Saturday 30th August to Sunday 7th September

HIGHAM with West Close Booth

Higham is Pendle's most south-westerly Borough. Although the walk passes through some nice open countryside it suffers by comparison with it's neighbours which have more interesting natural features. The village itself is nice and it has an excellent craft fair at Easter. Parts can be muddy so the walk is best done after a dry spell.

I've started the walk on Higham Hall Road because there is ample parking there (except at Easter!). From Nelson it is the first turn-off the By-Pass on the right signed for Higham and the dead end section right offers several parking spaces. You could start the walk in Fence (Section 7) as for the Old Laund Booth walk.

Start:                Higham Hall Road (813366)

Length:             11.5k

Height Gain:      250m

Time:                4 hours

Grade:              Moderate
