THE PENDLE WALKING FESTIVAL in 2008 will be for 9 days from Saturday 30th August to Sunday 7th September

Join the Mayor on the Pendle Way

His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Allan Buck, has decided that during his Mayoral Year he was going to walk the Pendle Way - then, having done it, he (and his companions) decided to do it again in the opposite direction!

Copies of the Pendle Way pack can be purchased for £3 (Plus postage and packing) from: Barnoldswick Tourist Information Centre (Tel: 01282 666704), Pendle Tourist Information Centre (Tel: 01282 661701) or Nelson Town Hall (Tel: 01282 661655).

9 walkers joined the Mayor on the first and second leg, with 17 on the much sunnier third leg - a few pictures follow:

The group at the start with The Mayor and Mayoress in their chains
The group at the summit of Weets with Pendle behind
Everyone made it back to the gates of Bancroft Mill
A highlight of day 2 was ice creams at Greenber Field Locks - thanks Mr Buck!
The Mayor and a few of the party at the locks
The Royal foot on one of the Barnoldswick boundary stones - close inspection should enable you to tell which one. The Mayor will be leading the Barnoldswick Parish Boundary walk during the Walking Festival
The Mayor and Mayoress with some of the 17 walkers with an old lead mine wheel behind at the start of a sunny day 3
Again the Mayor and Mayoress at the Trig Point on top of Knarrs Hill. I actually "own" this trig point and am responsible for keeping it in good order - yes, I must get it painted!
We eventually all made it over the large stile leaving Knarrs (all of 301m high). Laneshaw Bridge has a second trig point which is at a mere 240m.
Day 4 and 17 of us made it over the Packhorse Bridge at Wycoller
And over the Clapper Bridge
But not all made the Clam Bridge - that's the Mayor with his back to me!
End of the day approaching Coldwell Activity Centre
Some of the 13 walkers on Pendle summit  N.B. THIS PIC will open in the SAME WINDOW
Taking well earned refreshment at Fox's (Robin Hood's) Well  N.B. THIS PIC will open in the SAME WINDOW
Crossing the stepping stones near Roughlee on the final day N.B. THIS PIC will open in the SAME WINDOW
We've finished!!! On the lawn at Pendle Heritage Centre.  Oh no!! We haven't!! We enjoyed it so much we're going to do it again the other way round! N.B. THIS PIC will open in the SAME WINDOW
